DUKE -IT SECURITY-CO-OP

Job Descriptions:

Responsible for the development, implementation, communication, monitoring and maintenance of the information security policies and procedures which promote a secure and uninterrupted operation of all IT systems. Review the development, testing and implementation of appropriate security and disaster recovery plans, products and control techniques. Provide state of the art technical expertise and support to client and IT management and staff in risk assessment and the implementation of appropriate data security procedures and products. Manages the reporting, investigation and resolution of data security incidents. Also responsible for anti-SPAM, Surf Control, Anti-Virus deployment and overall Security Administration on multiple platforms.

Roles and Responsibilities:

· Oversee the standards design. Ensure security practices, procedures and standards are implemented and updated to align with industry best practices. Ensure secure connections to the network and work to identify risks and get them addressed. Ensure perimeter devices meet standards and firewall request are researched prior to approval.

· Ensure security operations are optimal and efficient. Provide anti-virus services ensuring Intrusion Detection and/or prevention is adequate for the enterprise. Provide Surf-Control and Anti-SPAM functions. Conduct investigations as requested via Corporate Security, Legal, and/or HR.

· Provide Security Administration for multiple platforms; and ensure compliance monitoring for SOX related servers/shares. Monitor the WIP function and deal quickly with errors and exceptions. Ensure security practices, including maintenance and upkeep, are done with quality and in a timely manner so that no impact to network availability occurs than can be attributed to IT Security. Provide technical security services across multiple platforms: W2K, OS/390, Unix, SQL Server, Oracle, etc.

· Assist in consultation and support to clients and IT management and staff in risk assessment and the implementation of appropriate data security procedures and products. Provide consultation for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures as it relates to IT security.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Currently pursuing a four year degree in CS, CIS, MIS or IT related major (i.e. Electrical or Computer Engineering)
