Academic Advisor
Ana Lydia Rodriguez is an Academic Advisor in the College of Computing and Informatics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In this role, she works with Computer Science majors and enjoys helping her students succeed in college and prepare for their next steps. She strives to cultivate a welcoming and inclusive environment for her students and empower them to achieve their personal, professional, and academic goals. Lydia is particularly passionate about supporting first-generation college students and serves on the university’s Forty-Niner First Gen Support Committee. As part of the Recognition Support subcommittee, she celebrates the accomplishments of Charlotte’s incredible first generation students.
Before joining the CCI advising team, Lydia worked in a variety of other areas including career services, academic coaching, and college/graduate school application counseling. Lydia holds a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Vanderbilt University and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Winthrop University. During her time at Winthrop, Lydia was a McNair Scholar, award-winning researcher, Tutor, and Peer Academic Coach. At Vanderbilt, she was a Peabody Distinguished Scholar, Peer Career Mentor, and Co-President of the Peabody Latinx Alumni & Student Association (PLASA). These experiences solidified her love for working in higher education.
Lydia has lived in the Carolinas for the majority of her life and is proud to call the Carolinas home. She enjoys photography, painting, reading, and having game nights with loved ones. When she isn’t on campus, you can find her listening to music, watching tv or Formula One races, and hanging out with her cats, Max and Enzo.
