Academic Advisor
Luis has served as an Academic Advisor for the College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) since July 2024. Before joining the CCI advising team, he was an Academic Advisor at Central Piedmont Community College, assisting students planning to transfer to four-year institutions to major in computer science. As a first-generation college graduate who began his academic journey at a community college, Luis can relate to students who have taken a similar path to earn their bachelor’s degrees.
Before transitioning into higher education, Luis worked in recruiting, HR, and workforce development, where he discovered his passion for working with college graduates. His time as a University Recruiter inspired him to transition into higher education, leading him to earn a Master of Science in Higher Education from Arkansas State University. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Kent State University in Ohio.
Luis was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, but moved to the Cleveland, Ohio area during his teenage years and considers Ohio his home. He is happily married and a proud cat-dad to his black cat, Leah. As an avid reader, Luis enjoys books on religion, philosophy, and fiction. He also loves going to the movies, watching and playing sports, photography, and exploring new destinations. One fun fact about Luis is that he has lived in six major cities.
