Transient students are UNC Charlotte degree-seeking students who are also taking courses at another college (typically during summer terms). UNC Charlotte is considered to be the home institution and the other school at which students are taking courses is the host institution. Students are required to obtain approval for transient study prior to taking any outside courses.
Process FOR obtaining approval
Please note: The process outlined below is only for students in the College of Computing and Informatics (students from other colleges should consult their home department).
Step 1: Review details about transient study (including financial aid information if relevant).
Step 2: Download this Transient Study Form and complete the top portion of the form, including your name, ID, major, UNCC email, name of the host institution you will be attending and the Transient Study Courses table. You may leave the UNC Charlotte Equivalents table blank if you are unsure of the equivalent courses. Make sure to sign and date the form.
Step 3: Upload your completed Transient Study Form via this Google form (this form is for CCI students only).
Step 4: Your form will be routed to CCI personnel who will obtain the necessary signatures on your Transient Study Form and send it to the Office of the Registrar. You should receive a copy of the completed form from the Registrar’s office, after which you may register for the approved course(s) at the host institution.
