Carolinas Cyber Defender Scholarship
Since 2001, the Carolina Cyber Defender Scholarship Program has provided close to 100 full scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students interested in pursing information security careers in the public sector. Each scholarship recipient will complete either a Bachelor’s degree in Software and Information Systems or Computer Science, or a Master’s degree in either Information Technology or Computer Science. In addition Ph.D. degree in Computing and Information Systems will also be considered. Each scholarship student must be able to complete his or her academic program within a maximum of two years (for Ph.D. students, the degree must completed in three years). Rising juniors and seniors are eligible either as undergraduates or through the early entry accelerated track for the M.S. degree.
The STARS Computing Scholars
The STARS Computing Scholars program at UNC Charlotte is funded by the National Science Foundation. The program provides scholarships for students to pursue Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees* in the College of Computing and Informatics. Students who meet both merit and financial-need requirements are competitively selected, as detailed below. Once selected, students receive a stipend up to $10,000 per year for up to three years to complete their Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees and participate in research, experiential learning, and community service projects with other computing students.

CCI GAANN Fellowship
The general goal of this CCI GAANN Fellowship project is to increase the number of qualified researchers and teachers in computing. Our target population is highly qualified students who meet the criteria for entry into our Ph.D. program, with an emphasis on students from underrepresented populations. GAANN Fellows will receive a scholarship to pay their tuition and fees, and a stipend.
